Andrew Cagle
Coach
Hi, I’m Andrew Cagle. I was once called a “walking balloon” by a healthcare professional due to being on blood thinners but that didn’t stop me from waking up everyday, winning each liveable moment and being grateful for the “little victories” in my life! Growing up and being part of an athletic family, competing in sports like football, basketball and running track was how I defined myself and connected with others. Eventually I realized I would make a better coach than a pro player. This revelation catapulted me into the sports coaching world in 2008 and I haven’t stopped yet. Coaching at both the youth and high school level led me to become a Physical Education teacher and to continue giving back in a meaningful way.
My Diagnosis:
While teaching in 2018 I suffered a seizure which made me change my personal habits. I focused on those “little victories” every single day, got rid of alcohol and did everything in my power to be the best version of me. 10 months later in 2018 I had a swollen leg assessed, was told I had a blood clot in my right leg and needed to be on Blood Thinners the rest of my life. I felt numb, shocked and down. How does someone in their early 30’s who’s at the healthiest they’ve ever been have a blood clot? I wanted answers but didn’t know who to contact and doing my own research left me with more questions. Self-doubt became huge, I needed to step away from teaching students and coaching because I was too afraid of what could happen to me. I stopped acknowledging “little victories” and just went day by day with no real purpose. Always asking:
What’s my worth?
What’s my “Why”?
How can I be beneficial to society?
How can I lead others when I can't lead myself?
In 2019 I started a life in construction and felt like my life had hit a restart. I was motivated, I was getting back in shape, my therapist recommended Mindfulness Class and those CHANGED MY LIFE!!! My energy and effort was back! Blood Thinners weren’t so bad after all. Until……. an unfortunate and tragic accident happened while I was doing construction. Due to the nature of the injury being on Blood Thinners could’ve made the situation even worse. I quickly referred back to the same old questions of:
What’s my “Why”?
Do I have the Energy and Effort to get through this?
How can I use my experiences (good or bad) to guide others who need it?
So I reconnected with my roots (health, coaching and sports). I stopped doubting myself, turned even more grateful for every “little victory”. Feeling rejuvenated I decided I wanted to help others on a higher level and became a Life Coach and a Recovery Coach. I wanted to help people like me find or regain the Energy & Effort they need on a daily basis!
Now I know my “Why”.
Now I can help others.
All it takes is the right Energy & Effort!
